A New York jury found Lynne Stewart--the radical lawyer accused of helping her terrorist client, "blind sheikh" Omar Abdel Rahman, communicate with his Islamist followers from prison--guilty on all of the counts against her, including conspiring to provide and providing material support to terrorists. Stewart had found a kindred soul in Rahman, both personally and to an extent politically, and she took her trademark activist lawyering a step too far in his post-trial "defense," when she could no longer do much for him legally. In an interesting twist, our own Byron York has reported that George Soros, the major backer of John Kerry's presidential campaign, among other left-wing causes, contributed $20,000 to Stewart's defense committee in 2002. Once again, the republic is the safer for the failure of Soros's causes.
